Are You What You Eat?

Is the quest to stay looking younger a constant battle?

Looking beautiful and young is something that everyone strives for and we will go to any extent to achieve it.  Each year millions of dollars are spent on lotions, potions and surgeries in effort to turn back the pages in time. But what if the quest for beautiful skin is sitting right underneath our noses.

But when we look in the mirror everyday do we really think about its function? I bet not. Your skin is a living breathing part of your body and requires nourishment in order to stay youthful. Aside from proper daily skin washing, splashing on the toner, moisturizing and hydration, it also requires nourishment from the right kinds of foods.

The connection between anti aging and food is an interesting one, but ultimately it is very simple. Skin is built from the inside out. Day after day and year after year, skin draws its healthy glow from good nutrition. Even though acne and wrinkles have different causes, and occur at different times in your life, nutrition can help minimize or prevent both of these problems. We humans are designed to eat mostly fruits and vegetables, with some nuts and seeds but like it or not the emphasis is on veggies...veggies and oh! did we say more veggies.

"The old adage; you are what you eat, still holds true today as it was ages before. "

Here are a few tips on keeping that clear youthful glow not to mention maintaining your health:

The Products we use on our Bodies:

There are two main causes of premature aging. One is cell and tissue damage caused by free radicals. The other is a reduced immunity that puts the body at risk for disease. Organic products infused with herbs can help fight free radicals and help build immunity.  In essence botanicals are food for your skin.

Bombarding skin cells with harsh chemicals and toxins can have counterproductive effects on your body, which may not appear for many years, but eventually the damage shows itself in the form of wrinkles, skin disease, accelerated aging, and toxic build up in other organs.

Fortunately, there are now natural and organic alternatives body products for combating aging skin which are effective and 100% better for your body.

Foods

Adding antioxidant foods (which fight free radicals) to your diet is the best remedy for aging. Fresh fruit and vegetables, organically grown if possible, should be consumed daily. Whole grains, nuts, seeds, beans, and sprouts insure free-flowing digestion free from constipation. Flax, sesame, sunflower, and pumpkin seeds help rid the body of parasites. Cultured foods including yogurt, Kifir, Kimchi, raw Cheese and raw Sauerkraut promote healthy gut bacteria which are also crucial to your overall health.

Eating well is a practice and a lifestyle, and it’s an investment of time and energy to create and sustain health and healing for years to come. The benefits are vast and the beauty that it brings, reflects vital health.

Your thoughts can affect your skin

Recently, researchers have found that negative thoughts can lead to premature cell death and that equals aging. How does that happen?  Well, the lifespan of a cell is dictated in part by a cellular structure called a telomere, which protects genetic data and helps cells divide.

Each time a cell divides, the telomere shortens; eventually it becomes too short and the cell dies. The University College of London found that hostile thinking also had the same effect on the aging process. So perhaps when we fear aging, we focus on it with negativity, therefore, polluting our self-image, thus manifesting the very things we fear.

So tomorrow when you get up and look in the mirror say something positive about your skin. We have taken these studies to heart which is why we called our new serum "A Few Less Wrinkles" instead of plain old anti-aging serum.

"Think positively and feed your skin with the same care and passion you would feed your body".  Our Creamy Almond Butter & Spinach Protein Smoothie has oodles of benefits for both your body and skin. For the recipe check out the link above.
